      Why not keep the exploitation rolling on through?  After watching the weird arthouse sci-fi film Liquid Sky and the first Blaxploitation flick Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song I went with another exploitation flick of sorts.  I decided to go sleazy and check out the sexploitation flick Her Name Was Lisa from 1979 starring Samantha Fox who has starred in several releases from Vin Syn.  This film was released on blu by them not too long ago and they were kind enough to send a review copy my way.  Thanks guys!

      The film follows Lisa who is working at a message parlor.  When news of her beauty reaches an amateur photographer he decides to pay her a visit.  He convinces her to leave the parlor and work for him.  After several shoots with him her beauty makes it up to a business man who funds the photographer's shoots.  He pays his studio a visit and convinces her to come stay with him.  He uses her as his own little plaything and eventually lets people fuck her against her will.  She stays with him because the money is good but she falls in love with a woman who frequently flirts with her at the spa.  She gets her addicted to drugs and they rape the business man before she overdoses. 

     I always go into a sexploitation flick expecting a little story and a lot of sex.  They are sleazy fun for when you don't feel like investing all your attention in a film.  However, I was shocked to find that this one was more story than sex.  The acting in this one is actually really enjoyable.  The sex scenes were solid but the non-sex scenes were actually fun and very well acted.  Samantha Fox is the films star and for a reason.  She is a great actress and if looks could kill she would be a loaded .45.  The supporting cast is solid as well making for a fun sleazy sexploitation experience.  The story for this one is a little more than what you typically get with a vintage porn or sexploitation flick.  In fact, if you would have took out the hardcore sex this one would have found itself as a memorable drama of the time.  The pacing works with the sex scenes but these could have easily been film as softcore or typical movie sex scenes to pass as a drama.  I loved the way the film's story tiers up from one love interest to another as the story progresses with it.  It works for a porn and as a drama as the drug crisis was picking up in the late 70s.  Finally, this sexploitation flick is sexy.  The sex is not as flamboyant as other sex films of the time but it works for the film.  Overall, Her Name Was Lisa is a fun watch.  The movie is sexy and the story is actually entertaining.  This is one of the few porns with a plot that is worth watching.  Check it out.
