Italian filmmaker Domiziano Cristopharo that has delivered some seriously gruesome horror titles to fans over the years.  Since 2009 he has given us the gloriously fucked up films House of Flesh Mannequins, Red Krokodil, Xpiation, Doll Syndrome, Deep Web XXX, XXX Dark Web, Ill: Final Contagium, and so many more.  A few days ago I was contacted by Tetro Video to be the first site to review Cristopharo's newest film Confessions of a Necrophile Girl.  This was a new one to me so I greedily accepted to check this one out. I'm glad I did because it was fucked up and a lot of fun.  I want to thank the fine folks over at Tetro Video for thinking about Horror Society to review this one.
The film follows the gorgeous Karen who has a dark secret.  Since she was a young girl she has been obsessed with the dead and that fascination has turned sexual.  She uses her job as a mortician as a way to fulfill her fantasy of fucking the dead until she is eventually caught.
Confessions of a Necrophile Girl doesn't have the shock value that other films like it has but it does deliver a story that most films centered around necrophilia struggles to do.  Nekromantik, it's sequel, Necro-Sexual, and other films like it rely on shock value but often lack stories.  Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the first Nekromantik but anyone that has seen it can agree that the story is rather lacking.  Confessions of a Necrophile Girl drops the shock value and gives us a story that surprisingly works.  The acting in this one is fairly decent.  The cast is rather small and you don't really get a traditional performance from them.  The dialogue is limited and done very well.  However, the film follows Karen, who is portrayed by Angela del Regno and she does one hell of a job in the role.  She carries the film and makes is at enjoyable as it is.  I don't see the film being what it is if someone else was in the role of Karen.  The story for this one is part documentary and part traditional film that works.  The narration and story development gives the viewer something to watch while the necrophilia plays out before us in a predictable and almost cliched fashion.  Fans of horror have seen enough horror films to know exactly what to expect so it is a little predictable and cliched by this point but Confessions of a Necrophile Girl does give us a story to follow with some unexpected aspects that makes it feel different than the films that came before it.  Finally, the film has some great make-up effects that makes the actors look like convincing corpses and some fun practical effects on one of the more decayed cadavers.  Also, there is a few scenes with some great cinematography and lighting that adds some genuinely eerie shots to an already uncomfortable film.  Overall, Confessions of a Necrophile Girl is not going to be for everyone.  Most of the pop horror fans will find this one repulsive and disgusting but those of you that have a sweet tooth for gnarly horror will really dig this one.  I highly recommend it.
