Rating (out of 5):

I've been lucky enough to review movies for Horror Society for almost a decade now.  I've met a lot of amazing filmmakers over the years and a few of them have become close friends of mine.  One such filmmaker is Steve Rudzinski.  I first reviewed his sentai action flick Super Task Force One and I was a fan ever since.  I've reviewed all his work up to this point and when he announced the release of his Meowy sequel Amityville Christmas Vacation I knew this would be another fantastic flick to enjoy.  Steve was kind enough to hook me up with a screener and I really enjoyed it.  Thanks again Steve for everything you do and supporting Horror Society.
The film once again follows bumbling cop Wally who wins a trip to a Christmas themed bed and breakfast.  However, there is more to this house than meets the eye.  The owner has been sacrificing guests to an evil spirit in the home but Wally is not just any guest.  He's oblivious to the fact that the woman in the home is a ghost and starts to fall in love with her.  Things take an even bigger twist when a ghost napper snags her and he is forced to rescue the woman he has fallen in love with.
Amityville Christmas Vacation is not going to be for everyone.  In fact, I would wager that most of the horror community would react negatively to this one.  However, those that like Rudzinski's Meowy films will really enjoy this installment in the Wallyverse.  It's a whimsical parody of any Amityville film that lacks the talking critters we like but still works.  The acting in this one is a lot of fun.  Rudzinski and the always beautiful Aleen Isley is great together on screen.  Rudzinski has portrayed Wally several times and he has the character and mannerisms down perfectly.  Wally is Rudzinski's Ernest and Pee-Wee.  I hope we get more films featuring this bumbling idiot.  The story for this one is a family friendly parody of the Amityville films that seem to pop up by the dozens every Halloween season.  It somehow fits into the Meowy series but the lack of talking house pets is a bit of a let down.  Regardless, I really enjoyed the energy and the light-hearted humor we are given.  Finally, this is not the kind of film you toss in for blood.  It's got some laughs, some make-up effects, and that's the extent of it.  Overall, Amityville Christmas Vacation is going to be the type of film that I expect to catch a ton of heat from hardcore horror fans.  These horror hipsters forgot how to have fun and this is the kind of movie they love to bash.  Sadly, this one is a lot of fun and those that sleep on it will be missing out on something enjoyable and entertaining.  If you liked A Meowy Halloween I highly suggest snagging this one.
