There is several companies out there that I absolutely adore when it comes to blu releases.  Arrow and Scream Factory are cool and give us the more main stream titles but companies like Blue Underground, Massacre Video, and Vinegar Syndrome give exploitation and cult fans releases they can't find anywhere else unless they feel like forking out some serious cash for a rare VHS.  Vinegar Syndrome is the one of the three that gives fans a more diverse selection to choose from.  They are known for their horror releases but fans know they can count on their sexploitation, exploitation, and cult releases as well.  Sometime back Vin Syn released the bizarre 1982 Liquid Sky on blu.  I had never heard of this one but I couldn't wait to check it out.  Thank you Vin Syn for sending this one my way!
This strange tale follows a sex addicted fashion model who lives with her drug dealing boyfriend.  What she doesn't know is that small aliens has landed on her apartment building looking for heroine but soon find themselves attracted to her orgasms.  When she starts sleeping around they start harvesting her partners for the ultimate high while a strange scientist studies them from across the street to find a way to stop them.
Vinegar Syndrome has release some pretty fucking strange movies over the years.  Some were fun but unusual while others confused the utter fuck out of me.  Liquid Sky is one of those movies I honestly don't fully grasp but I still had fun with all the visuals and oddball story.  The acting in this one is just as strange and unusual as the movie itself.  The characters are very colorful and flamboyant which creates a fun atmosphere for such a strange film.  The cast is great for these types of characters but in a more serious movie they would have been very out of place.  The story for this one draws in a lot of imagination but does leave the viewer wondering what the fuck they just watched.  The aliens after orgasms and heroine is pretty original I have to say even 36 years later.  It is strange and more arthouse than sci-fi but it still works.  It's fun as hell but extremely difficult to follow.  Finally, if you want gore you wont find any here.  There is some outdated visual effects and some funky make up but that is the extent of the effects game for this one.  Overall, Liquid Sky is so fucking weird but you can't deny how much fun it is.  I recommend checking this one out while sober.
