     Sometime ago, it feels like years, director Ron Bonk announced his newest film House Shark.  The teaser trailer he released with it had me fucking sold.  I wanted that film and couldn't wait for it.  It looked like everything that I love about indie horror.  It had characters that you wouldn't easily forget, a story that is just as ridiculous as the characters, and a lot of humor.  I shared the shit out of that press release and then things went dark on the project until several months back when Bonk launched a crowd funding campaign to serve a pre-order for the film.  I jumped on it when I could and recently got my copy in the mail.  What was the man that gave the world She Kills going to bring to sharksploitation?
     The film follows divorced dad and former sheriff Frank who lives in his suburban home with his son but one night his life is forever changed when his smoking hot babysitter is eaten alive on the shitter by a house shark.  Now he is afraid of the home and refuses to step foot in it with his son.  The two have resorted to camping in their backyard and face foreclosure from the bank.  They seen the help of a real-estate company to sell it before the home could be foreclosed.  When potential buyers turn into shark food Frank enlists the help of a house shark specialist and a real estate agent with a score to settle with a house shark to rid the property of the evil creature but what they don't know is that one of them is harboring a dark secret that puts their lives in danger.
     I knew House Shark was going to deliver the laughs like She Kills did but I was a little let down by the shark aspect of the film.  House Shark is not a bad film.  Not by any means but there was aspects that let me down.  I loved the acting in this film.  I loved the cast and I loved the energy they put into their performances.  Trey Harrison, Michael Merchant, and Wes Reid was a fantastic in their roles.  This was their film and without them it would have fell apart.  Their energy and excitement levels brought the characters to life resulting in a fun movie watching experience.  The story for this one could only come from the writing team behind She Kills.  The movie is just as outlandish and insane as She Kills.  The film has so much humor crammed inside its running time.  I honestly laughed harder at this film than any other film this year.  Ron Bonk and company has a funny bone and it shows with this one.  Sadly, the film does hit a rut reaching the third act.  The movie becomes stale and the humor does fall flat as the viewer struggles to pay attention.  I did like the twists and turns the film throws at the viewer but some of the scenes are just a little too long.  Finally, the film is full of practical and visual effects.  The practical effects and gore that we get are fucking fantastic.  The film was bloody which is to be expected from the mind behind SRS Cinema.  There is also some visual effects scattered throughout the film.  Most are used to enhance the practical effects and I can dig that.  It looks good and works well.  Overall, House Shark is another bat shit crazy indie flick that delivers on the laughs.  There is some dry scenes but that doesn't take away from the overall film.  Check this one out.
