Rating (out of 5):
This is one review that I have been looking forward to for over a week now.  Not because the film was good, because it was far from entertaining.  I was looking forward to this review because it means that I have officially made my way through the Killer 4 Pack film collection that was sent to me from MVD.  Last week I reviewed The Day of the Dead and then followed that shitty review up with the gothic rock feature film Jezebeth that was equally as shitty.  After some time away from the set I returned to review Carnage: The Legend of Quiltface.  This film was an improvement over the first two but still not that great.  Now, I am finally finishing the set with the film Hellweek.
The film follows a frat during rush week that is holding a party at an old warehouse.  The frat's president sends a few frat brothers down there to prepare for the party and they run off a few homeless guys.  That night the party rages on with everyone drinking and fucking.  However, they are not alone in the warehouse.  A "family" has been stalking and killing people near the warehouse and turn their sites on the frat party.

I love when a film gives a title that has something to do with a film.  When I was in college it was typical to hear the term "hell week" tossed around and it usually referred to two different times in the semester.  The first was referring to finals week where students spent their hard earned cash on energy drinks and coffee and the other and more obvious choice was pledge week where the students spent their hard earned cash on booze and condoms.  I loved that this film was titled Hellweek and focused heavily on college students.  Sadly, that was about as much as I liked about this film.  The acting in this one is not the best.  In fact, it is probably the worst I have seen to date.  Most of the cast tried and it shows but in the end they all lacked experience necessary to make their characters believable.  The story for this one is solid but poorly executed.  The thought of a killer family stalking college kids partying is fucking awesome, however, this rendition of that story is piss poor and hard to follow.  The film is poorly edited and it shows with the final cut.  Finally, the film does have several on screen kills and decent practical effects but they go unnoticed because the viewer has no fucking clue as to what in the hell is going on.  Overall, Hellweek has so much potential but wastes it with poor editing and an incoherent story.  I can not recommend this one.
