Last year when I came across a post for McMurderer on Instagram I had no idea how fucking weird it was going to be when I ordered a copy.  I had fun with it and made sure I kept an eye on the collective behind the film, Janice.Click.  Since then they have released a short, The Curse of the Fatwolf, along with a feature length film Attack of the Scarecrow from Mars.  These films are not for everyone but if you dig the stuff from Dungeon Entertainment and the like then you know exactly what to expect from Janice.Click and their weird VHS inspired oddities.
The film follows a two detectives searching for a missing boy while a scarecrow from Mars is wondering through the countryside killing everyone that it crosses paths with.  Stuck in the mix is a group of party goers who find themselves fighting for their lives as the scarecrow tries to add them to his body count.
Attack of the Scarecrow from Mars is not a film that will stir a cult following or change the way you watch no budget horror but it is a lot of fun.  It's mindless fun that is a lot more entertaining the more fucked up you are.  Don't watch it sober.  The acting in this one is far from perfect but so is the film.  The characters fit the film and the cast is having a lot of fun goofing off in front of the camera with their friends.  It does get a bit awkward at times and at others it's unintentionally funny but it's far from being the worst I've seen.  The story for this one is a bit too ambitious for a feature length film.  I love how sill it is and any horror film that works in a scarecrow has my attention.  The space angle adds some humor to the film but it's not explored mostly due to the film's lack of budget.  I liked the movie, so don't take it the wrong way, but the story itself is stretched so thin.  I'm stoked that Janice.Click gave us a feature length film but this one should have been another short because it just doesn't have enough meat on the bone to work as an effective feature.  Finally, if you have seen any of their other films you know exactly what to expect.  We get some rubber Halloween masks and that's about it.  If you are looking for a lot of blood and gore then you will be very disappointed.  Overall, Attack of the Scarecrow from Mars is a lot of fun if you like the chaotic no budget side of horror.  It's fun for what it is and entertains but don't expect a life altering experience.  Check it out.
