I have reviewed several shorts during my time here at Horror Society and most have been fucking amazing.  Some were horror comedies that picked up on the action and never let up while others were slashers, zombie, and demon shorts that gave us a great story without boring scenes full of filler.  A few weeks back I came across the Facebook page for the short Who Watched Them Die? from directors Norrin Lebeau and L.W.  The film looked raw and took me back to the exploitation horror flicks of the late 70s.  There has been several horror flicks trying to capture this look but this film looked different.  It actually looked like it was made during this time.  I reached out to the Facebook page and they were kind enough to send an online screener link my way.
The short follows two young girls as they rush through the woods.  Both are wounded and are not able to get far.  We then see three masked me wielding weapons and cameras who are chasing them with deadly intent.  They track the two women down one by one and kill them with a knife while the other two men record it all.  There is no mention as to why they do it other than for sadistic pleasure.

Shorts are a great catalyst for story telling.  Shorts have the ability to tell a story without having to worry about adding boring scenes and bland dialogue just to add to the film's run time.  Most of the shorts that I reviewed were able to give a great story but a few were unable to do so in their short running time.  Sadly, Who Watched Them Die? lacked story but was still able to entertain.  The acting in this short is indie rich.  The cast in this one show a lot of heart and dedicate a lot to their role but their inexperience shows greatly.  The story for this one is flat with very little going on in this remark.  The film follows three guys killing two girls in the woods.  Nothing more and nothing less.  Though the film is still able to hold it's audience it could have gave us so much more.  Finally, the film gives us two slasher inspired kill scenes that are very graphic and brutal.  This was the real meat of this short and was great.  The practical effects are minimal but the editing was done just right to pull them both off.  Overall, Who Watched Them Die? is a short that gets straight to the point.  The film may lack story but has heart...and bloodshed.  Check it out!
