Back in January I went the entire month without a horror movie. It was a tough month but I was able to spend my time watching exploitation and sexploitation flicks that were sent to me for review and I skipped over them for horror films. I went the entire month without horror which made February a godsend. I could not wait until February so I could watch my beloved genre but this month seems to be cursed with almost every movie I've seen being complete shit. Eternal Damn Nation is no different. This was a movie that was sent to me from my friends over at Brain Damage Films. The film was sent to me and was damaged during shipping. I reached out to Brain Damage and they said a replacement was on the way. Sadly, I never saw the replacement disc and forgot I had the first damaged disc in my collection. I was at FYE one evening and found the film used for $2.99 and thought I would grab it just so I could review it. Wish I had skipped it.
The film follows a young woman who seems to have her life together even though she lost a child several years back from drug addiction. Since then she has got her life together and has a steady man and decides to go camping with him and her best friend so her friend can get to know a new guy. The guy turns out to be a douche and they start fighting in the woods. What they don't know is that they are not alone. They get attacked and the two men become possessed by a demon. They are rescued by an angel who then informs them that the young girl is one of the few that could bring about the end of the world and must stop these demons.
Brain Damage Films usually go one of two ways. They are either over the top with some fun characters or they are way too serious with little to no entertainment value. As you can tell, Eternal Damn Nation was one of those films. The acting in this one is painful by everyone in the film. The cast is trying way too hard and the scenes are completely ridiculous considering the film's plot. The cast seems to forget that they are in an indie production and go all Underworld which made the film almost laughable. The story for this one is one we have seen several times before. The film following an angel stopping demons from taking over the world has been seen so many times before. Hell, it reminded me a lot of the film I, Frankenstein but cheaper and shittier. Finally, the film has several kills but almost all of them take place off camera. The kills are mostly people having their eyes cut out but they take place off camera which was a huge let down. The practical effects are weak and simple while the film is full of practical effects which are shitty. Overall, Eternal Damn Nation is a horrible film experience. The film is overflowing with horrible visual effects and is poorly written. I can not recommend this one and nor will I. Skip this one.
