I am a care free, fun loving kind of guy.  I've been called an asshole before due to my sarcastic nature and got in trouble for cracking "late" jokes at funerals but for the most part people know I love to have a good time. Comedy has influenced my sense of humor so when I found horror it was only natural that I lean more towards the horror comedies.  I love all horror but my favorite is the oddball horror comedies that people tend to bash for being sill and stupid.  Recently, I was contacted by director Jason Tostevin and his new short Born Again which stars horror hottie Ellie Church (hot, hot, hot).  The title really peaked my interest so I agreed to check it out.  Thanks Jason for allowing Horror Society and myself the opportunity to review your short.
This short follows a group of masked individuals who are in the middle of a Satanic ritual.  There is a pregnant woman (Church) in the throws of giving birth while the mask individuals wait for the birth when one arrives late.  He is not wearing the proper mask but they have no time to address that because the child is about to appear and it's not who they are expecting.

I love horror comedies that go against the main stream.  For the last 5 years or so the horror market has been over saturated with zombie flicks.  Hell, most of the best horror comedies within that time frame have been zombie flicks with films like Buck Wild and I Survived A Zombie Holocaust.  That's why I love when we get offbeat horror comedies that you usually don't see like Deathgasm and this short here.  The film makes you think it is going to go one way and then hits you with a swift kick in the nuts while you are laughing.  Kind of like that one friend every guy has that is funny and picks up the bar tab but is constantly sack tapping you.  The acting in this one is great.  Ellie Church was pretty intense in her role.  She did a great job at making the viewer believe she is really giving birth.  I was there when my wife delivered both our children and she was spot on.  The rest of the cast brought the humor.  The cast works very well together and had great on screen chemistry.  Some of the humor came from subtle nods and gestures that we often do in real life instead of dialogue and it worked great.  They were great and the film would have lost that edge if anyone else was in those roles.  The story for this one is clever and very witty.  The film makes you think it is going one way with the Satantic ritual before it tosses in some humor and then scissor kicks you in the face with the big reveal.  Horror, specifically horror comedy, needs more of these kind of films.  Finally, if you are looking for death scenes that are blood and gory then you are out luck.  We get some blood but nothing worth mentioning.  This horror comedy is more comedy than horror but it was still worth it.  Overall, Born Again is the type of short that I love to review.  It's funny, well acted, and hits you at the end.  Almost like a shotgun blast to the chest.  Check it out when you get a chance!
