Rating (out of 5):
The television adaptation of The Walking Dead comic series has forever changed the zombie sub-genre.  The last time the sub-genre was changed was when George A. Romero and John Russo teamed up to create the classic Night of the Living DeadThe Walking Dead took your typical zombie apocalypse and turned it into something real and emotional.  This created a wave of films attempting to cash in on the current success the show has received.  Hell, even the title is an obvious nod to TWD with the "walkers" being the name given to the undead by the survivors.  The film is also trying to cash in on another zombie film that was greeted with success.  The film, Dead Snow, has reemerged recently when news of the upcoming sequel was leaked to various horror sites.  This title goes to show that not all filmmakers are out to create something new and original, but instead, to cash in on someone's hard work.
The film follows special ops expert Alpha One (Berzamanis) as he infiltrates the Nazi headquarters to save a beautiful young lady from certain death. However, once inside the Nazi headquarters he discovers that the Nazi's have been busy since the end of WWII.  The Nazi's are currently building an army, the 4th Reich, of undead soldiers and they plan on unleashing the legion of the dead on Earth.  It is now up to Alpha One to stop the undead Nazis and save his hot piece of ass.
When I first threw in Dead Walkers I knew nothing about it.  However, all hope I had for the film flew out the fucking window when I saw this one was directed by Philip Gardiner.  I try to be open minded to all films regardless of the director's past films but the Exorcist Chronicles (read my review here) was a huge waste of time.  That film had everything going for it but the director was unable to bring it all together to make one, coherent film.  However, after just a few moments of this film I quickly realized that this film, too, suffered from bad direction.  Please do not take me out of context on this.  I am not saying Gardiner is a bad director.  I am just stating that his films suffer from bad direction which is sometimes out of the director's hands if the film was funded by another company.  The film itself was clearly not made to be enjoyed but to cash in on the success of other films and television shows.  The acting in this one is very bad even by indie standards.  The characters do not have any chemistry among one another and it shows on screen.  The talent is there but the chemistry is not.  The story is really nothing new nor is it entertaining.  When the crew decided to throw originality out the window they inadvertently tossed out quality as well.  Finally, those looking for great on screen kills and special effects will not find them here.  Instead, the film tries to make up for it with fight scenes and action which only makes the film worse.  Overall, this is a poor quality film with no originality or redeeming qualities.  Please stay away from this one.
