     Slashers have seen their fair share of masked killers over the years and that is what makes them so fun.  We love seeing a masked killer kill teens for doing things they should not be doing.  Over the years we have seen an inside-out William Shatner mask, a hockey mask, an Easter Bunny, Santa, elves, and even doll mask make their way into slasher films.  Every slasher film tries to outdo the last one but one film that has put them all to shame is the upcoming Anthony Catanese slasher Sodomaniac.  Who doesn't want to see a slasher where the killer is wearing an ass mask?  Anyway, I first heard of the film when I first started writing for Horror Society.  I quickly learned that that I was actually already friends with the director and would often question him about when the film would be released.  After what felt like years he finally reached out to me to let me know that the film was now finished and I would get to finally check it out.  Well worth the wait!

     The film follows a group of womanizing douchebags that call themselves the "wolf pack." These men often drug women and have their way with them.  One night they go to a party to attempt to pick up some strange when one of the men accidentally drinks one of the drugged shots.  He leaves the party and tries to make his way home but is attacked by a maniac wearing an ass mask.  The maniac pulls his pants down and sodomizes him to death.  The next morning the remaining members of the wolf pack plan a party at their home when they receive word that their friend is dead.  Soon after one of them receives some flowers and they suddenly remembered that their dead friend received flowers yesterday.  They shug it off as a prank and plan for their party.  The one that received flowers heads out to pick up some drugs for the party.  While there the drug dealer is murdered and he is sodomized.  The sodomaniac is interrupted and is unable to finish but the damage is done and the young man kills himself.  Some time goes on and the party is in full swing with the three surviving members ready to party it up unaware of the horror they are about to face.  One of the men takes a 17 year old girl to his room to bang but she has a change of heart and tries to make him stop.  He ignores her pleas and forces himself on her before she is saved by the sodomaniac.  We then jump to the other member of the wolf pack as he finds a girl that has had way too much to drink and forces himself on her only to find sodomaniac is waiting for him.  He begs him to stop and the killer finally reveals who they are and why they are killing.

     Slashers have a style all their own.  They give us some characters that are likeable, characters that are easy to hate, a masked killer that is killing for revenge, and most give us fun kills that look insane.  Sodomaniac took all of those and put them on their head.  This film took everything we love about slashers and turned up the dial to give us one unique and extremely enjoyable film.  The acting in this film was great by the entire cast.  Every character was cast perfectly and each were at the top of their game.  Every character was believable and that helped this film out tremendously.  The story for this one is a sleazy and raunchy take on the basic slasher formula.  In this story we have someone that was sexually assaulted and wronged to only get their revenge in the most cruelest of ways.  I love how this slasher takes the slasher formula and adapts it into something so crude and vile.  A lot of creativity and heavy drinking went into this story and it really shows.  Finally, the film has several on screen kills.  We get several people who are sodomized to death and the camera is done in such a way that the kills actually work and not gross the viewer out.  The practical effects in this one are not the best but the camera works in such a way that the effects work.  I also love the mask the killer is wearing.  Adds a lot of humor to a film that could easily offend and disgust some viewers.  Overall, Sodomaniac is a slasher for the ages.  It is vile, disgusting, and fun as hell. If you like raunchy films then look no further!  Check it out because I highly recommend it!
