I love the "recommended for you" section on amazon.com. Usually after adding a few movies to my wishlist they recommend some really shitty movies, but once in awhile they will recommend a movie that just catches my attention. This is one of those flicks. Before my amazon recommendation I had never heard of this low budget gem. After watching the trailer on youtube I was sold and had to order this one.
The film follows a group of twenty somethings as they work at a local drive in restaurant, King Burger. One night an employee, while out of town picking up supplies, is attacked by a werewolf. Shitty story cinema says that those attacked by a werewolf will be cursed to be one. While this is taking place the rest of the King Burger crew is preparing to close for the night when one of the employee's ex boyfriend drives through the drive thru and in a drunken fit confesses his love for her. This is very similar to the ex boyfriend in the slasher flick Intruder. After a petty fight scene the ex leaves and the crew continue about their business until the werewolf begins to pick them off one by one in the most cheesiest manner. In the end the cook, who got second place in a fry cook competition and received a silver spatula, stabs the beast in the chest. After killing the shitty looking beast the two survivors think it would be a good idea to cut him up and make werewolf burgers to sell to the local population. Once again, shitty story cinema dictates that those who consume the meat will be cursed...
This movie is really shitty but that is why this one is so appealing. The production team knew that they had a shoestring budget and decided not to make a serious horror film which is why this one works unlike Bloodbath in the House of Knives and C.H.U.D. The acting is surprisingly very well done and so is the effects. Well the effects for the kills are good but the werewolf looks like complete shit. I don't know if that little homage to Intruder is intentional or just coincidental. I know this review is a little more on the serious side compared to my previous ones but this is a pretty fun little film that anyone can enjoy. Give it a chance.
