About this time last year I made contact with someone that works for World Wide Media, Reality Entertainment, and Chemical Burn Entertainment. All three distribution companies are sister companies and since my contact I have received numerous films from them for review. I personally enjoy the films from Chemical Burn more than I do the others but each one has sent their own gems. The more strange and weirder films come from Reality Entertainment and these usually consist of paranormal, extraterrestrial, and cryptozoological. Though I do have a fondness for the crpytos the others mentioned before just don't hold my attention. Recently, Reality Entertainment hooked me up with a few flicks and among them was the 2012 alien conspiracy documentary America's Alien Invasion: The Lost UFO Encounters. These types of docs are usually not my cup of tea but I will give every film sent to me for review a chance.
This documentary gives the viewer an in depth look at alleged UFO sightings, abductions, and crash landings from the late 1800s until today. The film provides multiple documents that they claim are documents leaked from the government showing their involvement and knowledge of extraterrestrial life. However, as for the "lost" UFO encounters and "invasions," they are never spoken of.
Documentaries have the power to pull in any viewer regardless of the topic. The topic can be boring but if the team behind it have enough conviction they can create something mesmerizing enough to hold the viewers attention. This is something I believe fully. Hell, I have watched some of the most random documentaries on Netflix just because I wanted to watch a documentary. With that being said, if a documentary team just compiles fact after fact without actually showing documented proof on a topic that is outlandish then it will fail miserably. The facts and "historical" events in this one is only speculation without any solid evidence. The doc often referenced documents but never actually specified where these documents came from. The worst part of this is we only got one or two shots of said documents and they looked like the screen shot in the review. No government seal or evidence of it's authenticity. We also get photos of UFO, flying saucers, and the like but the photos are of such a piss poor quality that you really have to use your imagination to see anything at all. The rest of the facts the film states is also based on only campfire tales and stories told from generation to generation. The documentary makes a bold claim but offers poor evidence and lacks interviews from real experts on the matter. Instead, they interview UFO fanatics and conspiracy theorists only showing one side of the topic instead of the other. Finally, the film does at least give us some great concept art, cuts scenes, and visual effects to at least make the film look good. Overall, America's Alien Invasion is a documentary for fanatics that truly believe that aliens really do exist. If you are a skeptic or enjoy documentaries then this one is not for you.
