There was a time, a wonderful time
In a decade full of pure excess
The MPAA was lax on gore
You could still see Traci Lords undressed
Then there was a changing of the guard
A moral crusade threatened us all
Where was the blood, that wonderful gore
The righteous ones wanted to see horror fall
Slasher fans were left without a voice
That sleeping bag kill seemed awfully tame
Oh, you mean they cut it to remove the gore
Goddamn it, you fuckers are hopelessly lame
The decade that followed saw a far greater evil
They took out the sleaze, and horror went meta
Kevin and Wes, guys where were the tits?
Horror was faced with another dilemma
People now clung to the underground
To give them what studio horror lacked
A radical scene emerged from the rubble
The people were taking their genre back
Scream Park is a fun little throwback
To an era that has long gone, we wish it the best
The kills are not bad, but the characters lack
These redneck caricatures can be put to rest
Still, the amusement park setting
While I wish they would have done more with it
It took me back to my childhood
When all I wanted was fun, blood and tits
Modern slashers lack sincerity
This one's an exception to the rule
It doesn't make the effort to be self-aware
It doesn't try to be too hip, shocking or cool
It's not entirely original
In fact, it's pretty much run of the mill
The gore's pretty tame, but the direction's solid
Unlike Cheeseballs, this didn't make me want to kill
Cary Hill shows a lot of potential
Just make sure to watch this with beer, weed, and hoes
A mild recommendation for a Friday night
Until next time, my fellow freaks and weirdos...
Thank you MVD/Wild Eye for supplying me with this film for review.
