Rating (out of 5):
It is difficult to judge a sequel.  Very few sequels actually follow the storyline set up in the original film.  Some abandon particular ideologies established in the first in order to make a story suitable for a sequel which usually causes a backlash among fans.  That made me wonder what Creanzo would do with his sequel to The Bible Belt Slasher.  I really liked the killer and his religious one liners and was curious to see if Creanzo could craft another likeable killer.  So After watching the first Bible Belt Slasher I immediately started watching the sequel to see where it went.
The film immediately picks up where the first film left off.  Fry (Baumer) was not actually killed and was apprehended by the police where he was convicted of murder but sentenced to an mental institute. However, the Jesus nutjob kills a doctor with a candy cane and escapes with a list of the parents of all the kids he killed just last year.  Another doctor, who has been working with him, is trying to warn the police about Fry and where he is heading but they refuse to listen.  After Fry kills a couple parents and a cop the police start to take him seriously but is it too late?
This is one of the few instances where I liked the sequel more than the original. That may be why the original short is an extra on the the sequels DVD.  Anyway, I really enjoyed this one.  It had a lot more kills and even better one liners.  The acting is a little bit better than the original short but still very amateurish.  A little more experience would have went a long way when dealing with this one.  However, just like n the original, Baumer does an ever better job with his character.  The story is not that original and is blatantly obvious that Creanzo borrowed heavily from John Carpenter's Halloween.  This can be seen with the escaped mental patient escaping custody and his doctor chasing after trying to convince people he is "pure evil."  Though it was a very similar to Halloween it is still very fun film.  Once again the killer has some amazing one liners that are extremely better than the original film.  Finally, the on screen kills and special effects are a lot better than the short but they are still on the weak side.  This time around the killer is crafting a lot more gore than his first outing.  The blood junkies and gore hounds will enjoy this one!  Overall, this is a worthy sequel and a great slasher.  I highly recommend it!
