It is surprising what you will find while killing time on the internet.  You can find a slew of films that you have never heard of before just by venturing to a new review blog or site and checking out what they have reviewed recently.  That is what happened here.  I found a random blog and saw the poster for this film here.  The poster looked fucking amazing and I had to see it to review for the site.  I searched around and found the site for the film and asked them about it.  They were nice enough to send me an online screener for the film.  So thank you very much for hooking me up with this.  I really do appreciate it.
The film follows a brother and sister who return to their grandmother's home after her passing.  The two have not seen each other in awhile and are only visiting because they want to put their past behind them.  Their mother left when they were young and their grandmother took care of them for a short time.  While they were there their grandmother was very cruel to them.  She mutilated the young girl's vagina with a needle and stuck hot pokers on the young boys chest before stapling a mask on to his face.  The two bounced from foster home to foster home.  The young boy grew up to be a singer in a rock band and the young girl went on to marry a beautiful woman.  The young boy and his girlfriend along with the young girl and her wife stay in the house.  However, the house is now home to a supernatural presence that is hellbent on dragging them all to hell.
When I started watching this movie I thought I was going to be writing a bad review for the film.  Thirty minutes in I was fighting sleep hard.  Very few movies can put me to sleep but this one was trying hard. That is until the very end and the whole movie comes together making one big "what the fuck" moment.  The ending literally made the movie making the rest of the film just something you had to tread through to reach the true gem underneath.  I personally would have liked the film if some of it was cut out.  A lot of things could have been cut making the story a lot richer.  The acting is great by the entire cast.  Every cast member put everything they had in to their roles and it shows.  Their characters are very believable and some scenes actually tug on the ol' heartstrings.  The story is very complex and detailed but sadly makes a very slow burning film.  This movie would make a great novel but on film a lot needs to be cut to hold the audiences attention.  Finally, the film's on screen kills and special effects are phenomenal.  Though they do not appear until the very end they still deliver that ultra bloody and gory kills horror fans tend to love.  Overall, this movie moves at a snails pace but will rip your heart out in the end.  I recommend this one.
